MCA History and Vision:

Montview Conservatory of Music was created by John Kuzma in the late 1980s to offer music classes to children in Montview's preschool and in the Park Hill area. Over the years, the Montview Conservatory of Music has nurtured a love of music in hundreds of children through these classes, and has offered private lessons in instrumental and vocal music, organ concerts, and summer choral reading sessions.

In 2019, we expanded the original Conservatory, changing the name to Montview Conservatory for the Arts, in order to increase our class offerings. In addition to continuing our excellent classes for children in the Orff Schulwerk tradition, we now offer classes in theatre for elementary and middle school students, as well as private coaching for auditioning.

In time, we hope to encompass classes in all areas of performance and visual arts, and to offer these classes for exploring and nurturing of a love of the arts in children, youth, and adults.

MCA Guiding Principles:

At Montview Conservatory for the Arts, we believe that participation and study in the fine arts nurtures:

  • Our deeper understanding of ourselves.

  • Our abilities to understand and relate to others around us.

  • Our appreciation of multiple perspectives.

  • Our sense of personal identity within a larger community.

  • Our understanding and belief in the importance of ensemble, and highlighting the talents of all in performance.

  • Our abilities to create performances, for each other and for audiences, that result in joy by sharing our creative work.
